Our mission is to help young people develop the confidence, skills and connections they need to thrive in adult life.
Making the transition from school to adulthood can be challenging, particularly for young people who face barriers to achieving their goals. Navigating education, employment, training and independent living often requires additional guidance, confidence and practical support.
IRL (In Real Life) Education provides personalised employability, wellbeing and transition support for young people aged 14–25 across Badenoch & Strathspey. Through one-to-one mentoring, group sessions, action planning, employer engagement and skills development, we help young people build confidence, overcome barriers and move towards positive destinations in education, employment or training.
Working alongside young people, families, schools and local partners, we support each individual to identify their strengths, explore opportunities and develop the skills needed to build fulfilling and independent futures.
Our Topics
““This ambitious local and national project to train, encourage and inspire young people is much needed. All of us benefit by helping a new generation bridge the gap between what they are, and what they have in themselves to become.””
Why IRL?
1. Taught by young people
Our facilitators are young, engaging and fun. They grew up and live in the same digital world with the same challenges students can relate to, and share stories and anecdotes from their own experiences.
2. CfE Aligned
IRL Courses have been designed to assist teachers to meet the requirements outlined by Education Scotland in the Curriculum for Excellence.
3. We’re a social enterprise
That means we’re not doing this to make money. Any profit is invested back into achieving our mission of empowering young people with practical skills and ideas.
